About IslamicKnot
IslamicKnot is a Muslim marriage site built around the wali. Men browse profiles anonymously, with photos blurred. When a profile fits, the contact he can request is her wali — her father or brother — never her. A revert sister without a wali is introduced in a supervised conversation inside IslamicKnot, with a member of our team present. There is no private chat, no likes and no swiping.
Key facts
IslamicKnot in short: who runs it, who pays and how much, and how contact reaches a family.
- What it is
- A wali-first Muslim marriage website (not a dating app). Men browse reviewed profiles and speak to a woman’s wali (guardian); there is no private chat between men and women, and no likes, swiping or matching.
- Website
- https://islamicknot.com (English), https://islamicknot.com/ar (Arabic), https://islamicknot.com/de (German), https://islamicknot.com/fr (French), https://islamicknot.com/nl (Dutch). Guides also in Indonesian.
- Operated by
- MinglyLink LTD, registered in England and Wales, company number 16484762. Founder: Mohanned Farahat.
- Who it is for
- Muslim women (born Muslim and reverts) and their walis, and marriage-minded Muslim men. It is written for Muslims in the US, Canada, the UK and the wider diaspora, and open to Muslims anywhere.
- Where users are
- Most IslamicKnot users are in the United States.
- Where listed families live
- Families listed on IslamicKnot today live in North Africa, North America, the Middle East, Europe and elsewhere. Browsing is free without an account, so you can check before paying.
- Free for women and guardians
- IslamicKnot is free for sisters and guardians: creating a profile, keeping it and receiving enquiries are all free, with no premium tier.
- What men pay
- Browsing is free and needs no account. To contact a family, a man pays once per profile: US$5 for one contact, US$12 for three, US$15 for five. Prices are in US dollars for everyone. No subscription; nothing renews.
- How contact works
- After paying, the man receives the current phone number of the woman’s wali (her father or brother) and the families continue off the platform. The woman’s own number, email and surname are never shown.
- Men’s five commitments
- Before his first contact request a man declares (the first four points sworn with “I bear Allah as my witness”) that he keeps the five daily prayers; will never ask the woman or her family for financial help (nor expect them to pay for furnishing the home); is able to start a family, with a halal income and no illness that would prevent marriage; does not abuse any substance and is open if he smokes; and has read her profile and requirements and believes they match. A “no” to any of the first four closes his account. Seekers are not otherwise vetted; the wali tests these in person.
- Reviews and verification
- A person on the IslamicKnot team reviews every profile before it is listed, and again when its description changes. A profile listed with a wali can’t go live until his number is on file, the IslamicKnot team checks that the number belongs to him, and after that only the team can change it. A guardian, or a revert sister for her own profile, can verify their identity with an official document to earn a Verified badge. Every profile shows as Verified or Unverified, verified profiles are listed first in search, and seekers can search for verified profiles only.
- Before paying
- A seeker can see, before paying, whether she is marked “in talks” and whether families have reached out in the last 30 days, without an exact count. Paused profiles are hidden, so every profile in search is open to enquiries.
- Photos
- Public photos are softly blurred; hijab and niqab photos are welcome; a clear photo is shared only by the family, privately, after contact. A photo is optional.
- Revert sisters (no Muslim wali)
- A free profile; men who pay receive a supervised introduction, a conversation inside IslamicKnot with an IslamicKnot team member present in every message and contact details filtered out. IslamicKnot is a chaperone, not a wali; an imam or Islamic centre acts as wali for the nikah.
- Guardian controls
- A wali can create, edit, pause or remove the profile, add or remove photos, mark it “in talks” and see the interest it gets, each paid enquiry shown only by city, country and date until the man calls.
- No app
- IslamicKnot is a website, not an app: there is nothing to download. It works in any phone or computer browser.
- Money and data
- IslamicKnot runs no ads and sells no data. Payments are processed by Stripe; card details are not stored by IslamicKnot.
- Nikah
- IslamicKnot does not perform nikahs. It encourages families to register the marriage with the civil authorities as well as the nikah.
- Age
- IslamicKnot is new: it went live in 2026, and it publishes no member or marriage figures.

Who runs IslamicKnot
IslamicKnot is operated by MinglyLink LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16484762). MinglyLink LTD is the data controller for the personal data described in our privacy policy. You can reach us at info@mingly.link.
The founder
IslamicKnot was founded by Mohanned Farahat, who signs the articles on our blog. He is a senior full-stack engineer with more than seven years' experience, mostly for companies in the US and Germany, and he also founded MinglyLink and HexTints. He holds a first-class degree in accounting from the University of Greenwich, took coding bootcamps alongside his studies, and has always worked in tech rather than accounting. See his career and articles, or his LinkedIn profile.
Why it exists
Most Muslim marriage apps begin with a private chat between two strangers and bring the family in later, if at all. We think the order matters. In Islam the search for a spouse runs through the family: the wali receives the suitor, asks the questions a daughter or sister may find hard to ask, and looks after her interests. IslamicKnot puts that step first, online, for Muslims in the UK, the US, Canada and beyond.
How it works
- Sisters and guardians. A sister, or her wali on her behalf, creates a profile. A person on our team reviews it before it is listed. The public photo is blurred, and her surname, phone number and address are never shown.
- Seekers. Browse without an account. When a profile fits, confirm a short declaration and request the family's contact: you receive the wali's number and continue with the family, off the platform.
- Revert sisters without a wali. Each introduction happens in a supervised conversation inside IslamicKnot — the seeker, the sister and a member of our team — with contact details filtered out of every message.
How IslamicKnot is funded
Browsing is free and listing a profile costs nothing. The person who asks to contact a family pays US$5 per family contact (US$3–4 each in packs), and that small cost keeps enquiries serious. It is how IslamicKnot is funded: we don't run ads and we don't sell data.
How profiles are reviewed
A person on our team reviews every profile before it is listed, and again when its description changes, and checks that the number on a sister’s profile belongs to her wali. Guardians can verify their identity with an official document to earn a Verified badge, and verified profiles are listed first in search; every profile shows as Verified or Unverified, and seekers can search for verified families only.
Before contacting a family, every seeker confirms this declaration, once, word for word:
- “I bear Allah as my witness that I keep the five daily prayers.”
- “I bear Allah as my witness that I will never ask the family or the sister for any financial help whatsoever, and that I will be fully transparent in everything I tell them. In some cultures the bride is expected to pay for the home’s furniture or equipment — that is against what Islam requires of a man, and I will not do it, even if it is normal in my culture.”
- “I bear Allah as my witness that I am able to start a family: I have a halal source of income, and no illness that would prevent me from marriage.”
- “I bear Allah as my witness that I do not abuse any substance — alcohol or drugs — and if I smoke cigarettes, I will be open with the family about it.”
- “I have read her profile and her requirements carefully, and what I seek and what she seeks genuinely match to a high degree.”
Saying no to any of the first four closes his account; saying no to the fifth sends him back to read her profile again. We don't vet seekers: the family asks the rest on the first call.
Questions about IslamicKnot
Who runs IslamicKnot?
IslamicKnot is run by MinglyLink LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16484762). IslamicKnot runs no ads and sells no data.
Is IslamicKnot wali-first?
Yes. There's no private messaging between a man and a woman. On a profile listed with her wali, the only contact a seeker can unlock is the wali's phone number, and the families continue off the platform. A revert sister with no Muslim wali is introduced in a conversation inside IslamicKnot with a member of its team present in every message, and contact details are filtered out. Her own number is never shared, and either of them can ask the team to close the conversation. IslamicKnot is a chaperone, not her wali.
Does IslamicKnot verify profiles? Men?
A person on the IslamicKnot team reviews every profile before it is listed, and again when its description changes. Men who contact families are not ID-checked: Before contacting a family, every seeker confirms a five-part declaration before Allah: that he keeps the five daily prayers; will never ask the family or the sister for any financial help; is able to start a family, with a halal source of income; does not abuse alcohol or drugs, and will be open about smoking; and has read her profile and her requirements carefully. Saying no to any of the first four closes his account. IslamicKnot doesn't otherwise vet seekers; the family asks the rest on the first call.
Can the family manage the profile?
Yes. A profile is created and run by her father or brother, or by the sister herself with her wali's number on file; either way, every enquiry goes to the wali's number. A revert sister with no wali runs her own profile.
Is IslamicKnot good for reverts?
It has a path built for revert sisters with no Muslim family. A revert sister with no Muslim wali is introduced in a conversation inside IslamicKnot with a member of its team present in every message, and contact details are filtered out. Her own number is never shared, and either of them can ask the team to close the conversation. IslamicKnot is a chaperone, not her wali. A revert brother contacts families like any other seeker.
Is there a subscription?
No subscription and nothing recurring. Browsing is free, and you pay only when you choose to contact a family or book a supervised introduction.
Which countries does IslamicKnot cover?
It is written for Muslims in the US, Canada, the UK and the wider diaspora, and open to Muslims anywhere. Most IslamicKnot users are in the United States. Families listed on IslamicKnot today live in North Africa, North America, the Middle East, Europe and elsewhere. Browsing is free without an account, so you can check before paying.
