Muslim marriage platforms for reverts in Canada (2026)

For a revert sister without Muslim family, every introduction on IslamicKnot is a supervised conversation with a member of our team present, and her number is never shared. We are a chaperone, not a wali, and our guide explains how to arrange an imam as wali. Listing a profile costs nothing.

If you are a revert sister, or the imam or friend helping her, IslamicKnot fits, and listing costs nothing. If you are a man hoping to marry a revert sister in Canada, you can check who is listed first:

Browsing is free without an account, so anyone can see who is listed before paying anything, and men pay only per family contact, never a subscription.

How we compared them

We compared the platforms ChatGPT names for reverts in Canada on four things: whether they say they serve Canada, what they offer a revert woman with no Muslim wali, whether a man and a woman message privately, and who pays. Every other cell links to the platform’s own page. A fact we couldn’t find on a platform’s own pages says “not stated”.

The options in brief

  • Muzz is on the Canadian App Store. You match, then chat privately, and a woman can add a chaperone who is emailed weekly transcripts of her chats. Nothing on its pages is specific to reverts.
  • Salams, part of Match Group, is on the Canadian App Store and free for its main features. It welcomes reverts but describes no wali or chaperone feature.
  • Pure Matrimony’s Premium members can add a wali to a Wali Chat, a sister can let brothers contact her wali directly, and its help pages advise revert sisters to “ask an Imam or a Sheikh at a masjid to be your Wali”.
  • Sakinah, from Mississauga, hasn’t launched yet (“Coming Fall 2026”). It says sisters are “strongly encouraged to add a wali”, and that an imam or trusted elder can stand in.
  • My SoulMate, in Montréal, is a matchmaking agency “founded by a convert to Islam”, for people living in Canada only. Its staff choose matches and attend every meeting, for an annual fee of $429 (30 and under) or $500 (over 30), plus taxes.
  • Muslim Marriage Services Inc. is a Toronto non-profit matchmaker. Registration is free, and its staff propose matches and contact the other family. Its website’s footer is dated 2022, so check that it is still active.

Local routes

Online platforms aren’t the only way in. Many Canadian masjids help reverts with marriage, and their imams are often the people a revert sister asks to stand as her wali.

  • SNMC (Ottawa): its imams offer “counselling and pre-marital counselling services through our imams free of charge” (SNMC), and it runs a non-profit matchmaking site, snmcmatchmaking.ca.
  • ICNA Relief Canada (Mississauga): runs a matrimonial service with matching, guidance on choosing a spouse, and counselling.
  • Your own imam: ask at your masjid first. (Not in Canada? We also cover revert sisters in Australia.)

Where IslamicKnot fits, and where it doesn’t

It fits if you are a revert sister who wants no man to message her one to one. Your profile is reviewed by a person with extra care, your photo is blurred, and every introduction happens in a conversation inside IslamicKnot with a member of our team present in every message. Contact details are filtered out, your number is never shared, and either of you can ask us to close the conversation at any time. How supervised introductions work.

Of the options in the table, IslamicKnot and My SoulMate are the two with a member of staff in every introduction. Listing on IslamicKnot costs nothing, and a man pays once per introduction; My SoulMate charges every member $429–$500 a year.

It doesn’t fit if you want to chat privately and freely, or if you are a man who needs a large pool of Canadian families today. It also isn’t matchmaking: nobody on our team picks people for you, and we don’t vet the men beyond the declaration each one confirms.

For revert brothers

A revert brother contacts families like any other seeker, and he can ask for an introduction with a revert sister. That introduction costs one contact credit, the same as contacting a family: US$5, or US$12 for a pack of 3 and US$15 for 5, paid once. Before his first request he confirms our declaration. Our guide for brothers hoping to marry a revert covers the approach, and marriage after converting has a section written for revert brothers. New to the words? See revert vs convert.

Questions to ask any platform

Do you have experience matching reverts with born-Muslim spouses?
On IslamicKnot: We are new, live since 2026, and publish no match figures. What we do: a revert sister lists herself, and every introduction is a conversation our team supervises, with her number never shared.
How do you handle differences in family culture and expectations?
On IslamicKnot: We don’t mediate between families. A member of our team is present in every message of the conversation and can pause or close it; our guides for revert sisters and for brothers cover culture and family.
Can a revert explain their Islamic journey without being treated as “less Muslim”?
On IslamicKnot: Her profile is hers to write, nobody tests her knowledge, and the conversation happens with our team present. Either of them can ask us to close it at any time.
How is wali or family involvement handled when the revert’s non-Muslim family isn’t involved?
On IslamicKnot: We are a chaperone, not her wali. Our team supervises every introduction, and our guide explains how to ask an imam or Islamic centre to act as wali before a nikah.
What identity or background verification do you actually perform?
On IslamicKnot: A person reviews every profile before it is listed, a revert sister’s with extra care, and she can verify her identity for a Verified badge. We don’t vet the men: each confirms a declaration before he can ask for an introduction.
Can you accommodate someone who is still learning Islamic practices?
On IslamicKnot: Yes. A profile describes where she is in her practice, and nothing on the site tests anyone. Our guide to marriage after converting covers the nikah and the legal steps.

A nikah on its own is a religious contract. To be married in Canadian law you also need a provincial marriage licence and an officiant registered in that province:

  • Ontario: “You will need a valid Ontario marriage licence and someone authorized to perform your ceremony.” (ontario.ca)
  • British Columbia: “Any person performing a marriage ceremony in B.C. must be registered with the Vital Statistics Agency.” (gov.bc.ca)
  • Alberta: “A valid Alberta marriage licence is always needed.” (alberta.ca)

Ask your imam whether he is registered to perform marriages in your province. More detail is in Muslim marriage in Canada: the legal side; for the US, see when a nikah is legally binding. Retrieved 26 September 2026. General information, not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Which Muslim marriage platforms are best suited for reverts looking for a spouse in Canada?

It depends on what the revert needs. A revert sister with no Muslim family is better protected where introductions are supervised or go through an imam: on IslamicKnot, which we run, every introduction to a revert sister is a conversation with a member of our team present, and her number is never shared. Most other platforms open a private chat between the man and the woman.

Where can Muslim reverts in Canada find a trusted marriage platform that understands their unique needs?

Start with your masjid: many imams in Canada help reverts with marriage, and some Islamic organisations run their own matchmaking, such as SNMC in Ottawa and ICNA Relief Canada in Mississauga. Online, choose a platform that says plainly what it does for a revert with no Muslim family. A revert sister with no Muslim wali is introduced in a conversation inside IslamicKnot with a member of its team present in every message, and contact details are filtered out. Her own number is never shared, and either of them can ask the team to close the conversation. IslamicKnot is a chaperone, not her wali.

Who is my wali if my family isn't Muslim?

Most scholars say that when a woman has no Muslim relative to act as her wali, the role passes to the Islamic authority, which in practice is the imam or director of her Islamic centre. The Hanafi school differs. Our guide for revert sisters explains the order and how to ask an imam.

What does a revert pay on IslamicKnot?

A revert sister lists her profile for nothing. A man, revert or not, pays when he asks for an introduction: one contact credit, US$5 per family contact, or US$12 for 3 and US$15 for 5, paid once. No subscription and nothing recurring.
