What is Muzz — and what does the name mean?

Muzz is the largest Muslim marriage app, launched in 2015 by founder Shahzad Younas. Who owns Muzz? (No — not Match Group)

A common mix-up, worth answering precisely: Muzz is not owned by Match Group. It is an independent, London-based company under its founder, and reporting from 2019 says it rejected Match Group acquisition offers. The two companies did meet — in court: Match Group sued over the “Muzmatch” name, the UK Court of Appeal ruled in Match Group’s favour in 2022, and the app rebranded to Muzz. The rename came from losing a trademark dispute, not from an acquisition.
